Meet the neighbors who share this garden.
Welcome to the living biography of one garden.
Since 2009, this patch of Texas soil has been planted, tended, watched, and allowed to become a neighborhood.
Flowers opened.
Trees grew taller.
Birds found the windows.
Bees learned the paths between blossoms.
Spiders built where no trellis had been planned, and generations of small creatures made homes in places intended for something else.
The neighborhood was already here. We simply learned how to visit.
The Living Garden is where the stories of Olive & Edith begin - not in categories, but in encounters.
A gardenia’s fragrance reaches an open window. A seed pod crackles in the heat. A baby anole races through the mint.
A mourning dove returns often enough to become someone we recognize.
At first, we may see only a bird, a flower, or a small movement among the leaves. Then attention changes the view. The blur becomes an individual. The individual becomes a story. Story makes room for understanding, and understanding makes compassion possible.
This is a living museum of a single garden, but nothing here is held still. Return tomorrow and someone may have arrived, opened, emerged, vanished, or begun again.

The Whole Story Is Welcome
Every path belongs to the same place. A flower may lead to the bee who visited it, the fragrance it carried, the field note written that morning, the specimen preserved after it fell, and the painting it later inspired.
This garden is not presented as a perfect sanctuary where nothing difficult happens.
It includes competition, predation, disappearance, damage, weather, loss, and change.
Anoles may hunt caterpillars.
Spiders may hunt one another.
Flowers fade. Familiar visitors stop returning.
Understanding the garden means allowing it to remain wild enough to tell the truth.
Curiosity comes before judgment.
Relationship comes before assumption.
We do not need to make another creature less wild to meet it with greater care.
A Garden Tended for Life
The Garden Tenderers do not use pesticides harmful to wildlife or pets.
The purpose is not to control every outcome, but to create conditions where life feels welcome - a place where
butterflies, birds, insects, plants, and people may find what they need.
Nothing must perform for the garden to make room for it.
