Yellow Cestrum

Yellow Cestrum

Cestrum aurantiacum

Plant portrait: A warm-climate shrub with clusters of narrow yellow tubular, trumpet-like flowers, sometimes most fragrant with a sweet scent after the day cools.

Garden rhythm: Tender perennial and evergreen shrub; sun to part sun, moderate water, freeze protection or dieback possible.

Garden companions: Tubular flowers may draw hummingbirds and insects and so helpful as this plant will bloom from late spring through fall.

Worth noticing: Part of the nightshade family. It will fruit small, ovoid white berries. Cestrum plants are toxic and poisonous if eaten by animals or humans.
